I’m not exactly sure what you mean by “powerful and simply” but a quick glance at my bookshelf reveals some poets I turn to again and again like F.G. Lorca, Emily Dickinson, Yusef Komunyakaa, Ben Lerner, Peter Gizzi, Jack GIlbert, Patricia Smith, Saeed Jones, Natalie Diaz, Traci Brimhall, CA Conrad, Ross Gay, Jen Bervin and Mary Ruefle. Hope this helps!

many thanks to Columbia College of Chicago for writing such kind words for Thrush Press/Poetry Journal–where i’m an associate editor. read the review here.
i’m proud to edit the chapbook series there and am happy to bring such fine work to the world. if you’re a poet and have a book (under 40 pages), do consider sending it. you can read more about the press and the books we publish here.

What genre does your book fall under?
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
Also, the wonder-woman known as Traci Brimhall said this about it:
Anyone who has already sensed that “hope is a feathered thing that dies in the Lord’s mouth,” should get their hands on NO. Even as Vuong leads you through every pleasure a body deserves and all the ensuing grief, these poems restore you with hope, that godforsaken thing–alive, singing along to the radio, suddenly sufficient.
I am supposed to “tag” four other people to participate in this (if they are so inclined) regarding their own current/forthcoming projects : Joseph O. Legaspi, Lee Ann Roripaugh, Brandon Courtney and Katherine Sullivan.

I was never magnificent. Only lonely enough to speak myself out of this body and on to the page, where I’m touching you.
